U.S. Const. amend. XIII
The Fourteenth Amendment gave the rights of the citizens. It was ratified July 9, 1868. No state shall deny a person`s equal rights.

The fourteenth amendment was made so everyone has equal rights but Sylvia Engdahl is discriminating the blacks. If everyone has equal rights, it should be to the point where everyone can do the same things without exceptions.

The Fourteenth Amendment was so important that it has been called a second bill of rights and a second American Revolution. It prevented state government officials from abusing people`s liberty. The need of the Fourteenth Amendment was because of the Barron v. Baltimore, the debate over slavery, and the dred scott decision.

This Amendment extends national rights to citizens regardless of their race. It was aslo proposed by the necessary congressional majorities in June 1866 and ratified in July 1868. The Fourteenth amendment is divided into five sections and is known as the longest, most complex, most significant amendment added to the Constitution.

The 14th Amendment forbids states denying people under their authority, to vote. The laws of a state must treat an individual in the same manner as others in similar conditions and circumstances.
